Hospice of Helping Hands has been fortunate enough this past year to give back to the communities we serve in a variety of ways – here is a brief overview of our involvement in 2012:

    • Provided over $21,000 in non-reimbursable hospice care to those in the community who could not gain insurance.
    • Provided 138 bereavement interactions with community members who were not hospice families, free-of-charge.  These interactions included bereavement visits, phone calls, support groups, grief related workshops, Camp Warm Hearts participants, and memorial services.
    • Staff volunteered to assist with Survivorship Ceremonies at Relay for Life of Ogemaw, Gladwin, Roscommon and Iosco Counties.
    • Rang bells for the Salvation Army of Ogemaw County at Walmart in West Branch on Black Friday raising $1,352
    • In support of National Health Care Decisions Day this past April, we provided eight presentations to local senior centers titled “Empowering your Health Care.”  Presentations focused on keeping a medical journal and how to complete an advance directive.
    • This past November, we conducted a total of 19 Veteran’s Celebrations in our seven-county service area and paid tribute to over 300 veterans.  All the celebrations included a presentation of certificates of service and pinning for each veteran.  Several of the services were assisted by local VFW’s and/or American Legion’s.
    • Provided 28 free, public educational presentations through-out our service area on health related topics.
    • Welcomed 53 campers to our free children’s winter grief camp, Camp Warm Hearts.  This camp is planned jointly between Hospice of Helping Hands and Mid-Michigan Home Care.
    • This past year, sponsored the following:
Sons of the American Legion Magic Show in Prudenville
